GENERAL INFORMATION
1.1. Call for abstracts / papers
On the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of The International Training Institute for Materials Science - ITIMS, of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), ITIMS
will hold an International Conference on Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology in Hanoi (ICAMN)
from 13-th to 14-th of December, 2012. The
Conference will provide a forum for scientists worldwide to exchange their
research progress in the various exciting areas of advanced materials including
synthesis and characterizations of advanced bulk and nano-scale dimensional
materials, as well as on the nanotechnologies and applications. The Conference
also aims to provide a possibility for exchange of experiences of international
collaboration in these fields.Authors are invited to submit their
abstracts/papers in the fields of nanomaterials, nanotechnology and
applications. Topics to be covered at the Conference include but are not limited
as follows:
-
Nanostructured magnetic materials, functional
ferroelectrics and piezoelectrics This section focuses on nanostructured
magnetic materials and functional oxide materials with highlight on some
applications, such as data storage, electronics and biomedicines. The topics
of interest in this section include, but are not limited to, spintronics,
magneto-optics, magnetic recording, hard and soft magnets; ferroelectrics,
piezoelectrics and multiferroics.
-
Nanostructured semiconducting and hybrid materials, nanophotonics
This section focuses on nanostructured semiconducting and hybrid
materials, nanophotonics with the emphasis on applications, such as chemical
sensors, light control, energy conversion and storage, optical sensing. The
topics to be covered include, but are not limited to, advanced materials for
luminescence, organic LED, photo-electrochemical energy system and solar
cells, polymers and organic/inorganic hybrids; novel photonic materials,
near-field optics, fiber lasers, quantum confined systems.
-
Nanotechnologies and
Applications Modern Condensed Matter Physics nowadays deals with
nanotechnology, i.e. the processing, characterization and utilization of
materials, devices, and systems with dimensions on the order of nanometres,
exhibiting novel and significantly enhanced physical, chemical, and
biological properties, functions, phenomena, and processes due to their
nanoscale size. The topics include, but are not limited to, synthesis and
characterization of nanomaterials and Nano devices (including MEMS, NEMS)
for environmental, biomedical, electronic and process, industrial
applications, current challenges in nanotechnology, sustainable development
of nanotechnology, and policy issues addressing nanotechnology.
1.2. Who may participate?
Scientists, engineers and students working in the above areas are all invited to
take part in this conference to exchange latest information, progress and future
development on nanomaterials, nanodevices, nanotechnology and applications.
Especially, this conference also provides an opportunity for alumni students of
ITIMS (former PhD and MSc. Student) to exchange their research in the field of
materials science and nanotechnology. 1.3. Conference venue
ICAMN 2012 will be held in Hanoi University of Science and Technology,
No. 1 Dai Co Viet, Hanoi, Vietnam. As the capital of Vietnam for
almost a thousand years, Hanoi is considered one of the main cultural
center of Vietnam, where most Vietnamese dynasties have left their
imprint. Even though some relics have not survived through wars and
time, the city still has many interesting cultural and historic
monuments for visitors and residents alike. From the Noibai
international airport, you can take a taxi (Airport taxi and Noibai
taxi) to hotels in Hanoi. The distance is about 30 kilometers and the
fare is around US$ 20. In December, the temperature in Hanoi during
the day time is around 20oC. From Hanoi,
it takes about four hours by bus to reach Halong Bay, a UNESCO World heritage
site. See
